The City of Bromont today occupies the territory of the village of West Shefford and part of the territory of the village of Adamsville. John Savage, an American by birth, but of Irish and Loyalist who, after the American Revolutionary War origin, was the first resident of West Shefford and throughout the region to come and settle in 1793 in the territory of what would later form the village of West Shefford. West Shefford was incorporated in 1888, George Adams, a merchant of the manor of Saint-Armand, settled in the territory of Adamsville after acquiring a large area of ??land and a sawmill. The Village of Adamsville was incorporated in 1916.
