The Student School

The Student School is one of Toronto's many fascinating alternative secondary schools; the school is kept alive by the involvement of its students. We offer academic courses for grade 11, 12, and returning students. Established in 1979, TSS has been encouraging its students to take charge and challenge the status quo ever since! The majority of TSS graduates continue on to some form of post-secondary. Social justice, equity, acceptance, respect, and participatory democracy are essential values of TSS. Students are attracted to TSS because we fight oppression, celebrate differences and embrace diversity. We are proudly the only school in the TDSB where the entire school space is deemed a 'Safe and Positive Space' by Gender Based Violence Prevention and the TDSB. We are also the first secondary school in our quadrant of the TDSB to be certified a Platinum EcoSchool.
