The original owners founded Brar Sweets in the 1980's, and the first location was established in Toronto which served a limited variety: namely sweets and snacks, such as Samosas, Pakoras, fresh Jalebi and Ladoo. It gained recognition in the ethnic base community as one of the first Indian sweet shops in Toronto's 'Little India' among other ethnic restaurants, clothing, grocery and house-ware outlets available to the growing East Indian community in the GTA at that time.
