James St Gospel Tabernacle

he building which houses James Street Gospel Tabernacle was built in 1949. The Rev. C. Jefferson was the first minister and remained so until 1970 when his son John became the minister. He pastored until 1977 and then was followed by the Rev. J. Hodgins who served two years until 1979. Then John Jefferson was brought back to be the minister once again. He served in that capacity until 1984 when due to ill health he was followed by the Rev. C. Melville. John continued to attend the church however until 1986 when he died. The Rev. C. Melville served for one more year after John's death and then was replaced by The Rev. Peter MacCaull who pastored from 1987 to 1994. Then for a time the church was without a pastor until The Rev. Donald Lively became the pastor in 1995. Don has been the pastor since that time.
