Tarion Warranty Corporation operates as a regulator for the new home building industry in Ontario. It licenses various home and condominium builders pursuant to provincial legislation. The company also offers a warranty program that includes deposit protection, as well as warranties against defects in work and materials, structural defects, improper substitutions, and delayed closings and occupancies. In addition, it registers new home builders and vendors; enrolls new homes for warranty coverage; investigates illegal building practices; resolves warranty disputes between builders/vendors and homeowners; and promotes standards of construction among Ontario's new home builders.
