The Riverside Cemetery Conservancy is reclaiming the nineteenth century notion of a garden-like cemetery serving as a public park by not only working to preserve this serene green space and cultural landmark, but also offering to our visitors a deep connection to the past and to our community through special event, educational, and service opportunities.Riverside CemeteryWelcomeRiverside Cemetery was established in 1887 as a private cemetery located above the Ocmulgee River and has operated as a not-for-profit entity since the 1940's. The cemetery is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is the final resting place for more than 18,000 people representing many ages, faiths, races, and national creeds. Civil War veterans from the Union and the Confederacy are interred here on our 125-acre, meticulously landscaped property.
