Great new Restaurant in Markham
Smash has a great menu and great atmosphere for lunch and dinner and weekend brunches. We have been a few times now and recommend it as great choice in the Markham area. We particularly like the patio and the availability of the private rooms.

Average Buffet
This place is busy! The buffet is typical, lots of selection but just average quality. You'd never believe it was just average by how busy it is though. I've been a couple of time and it's been packed. Service was good. Getting a seat wasn't easy. You'd think it was free!

Buffet Italian Food, non authentic
A great place for birthday parties and corporate events however the food was mediocre. The selection of food was like your typical Itialian favorites (pizza, pasta, breads, etc). Great price for lunch buffets

familiar italian buffet, kids will love it
the "village" setting will be a blast for the kids. the food hasn't changed as long as i've been going (15 years). not 100% authentic italian but still decent comfort food. no a la carte menu here, it's 100% buffet.. great lunch buffet special pricing.

I've been to this restaurant for dinner buffet a few times within the past few years, I find their food selection is limited, food quality is ok, service is ok, not crazy about the atmosphere.

This restaurant is OK; not the greatest, but it passes. I've been to Frankie's in the past, and the atmosphere has changed from when I first visited. The wait time on a Saturday night was about 40-60 minutes for large groups, but because it was only the 2 of us, we were seated within 15 minutes. The food was ok, some good, some not so tasty (dry ribs), but it was always getting replenished which was good to see. Although they say theres plenty of food stations, there's not that big of a selection to choose from. My biggest annoyance during the evening was the LOUD dining area. It was so loud, that my friend and I were pretty much screaming across the table just to hear each other. There were lots of kids crying and running around; it just ruined the whole mood of having an enjoyable dinner. Overall, this is an ok place to dine, if you don't mind the loud environment. It was definately not worth $18.99 per person.

It's not really that bad.
I've been here a few times, and I don't go that often because a pasta buffet with all the starch and carbs and saltiness isn't that healthy :p. However, I like to go here because the taste isn't horrible and sometimes I feel like having pasta and that yummy calamari (my favourite) or the little squares of pizza. There was this one waiter who was really, possibly bordering overly nice, who came to us constantly. We never had to ask for another cup of water or juice or pop, because he was there with his little jug. The dirty plates were always cleared by the time we came back from another round. Its true that the tables feel a little sticky and the floors have this dirty gleam to them, but its nothing really to scare you away. Personally, I haven't experienced any bug problems here, but I guess it does happen everywhere.

Good but ....
I'll admit we were somewhat concerned after reading all of the reviews on this site --- However we decided to try Frankie Tomattos anyway. The glow of the leaning tower outside drew us in I suppose. The buffet is good, but nothing stands out as being overly impressive. There's a bunch of themed 'stations' (seafood, pizza, salad, pasta, etc.) where you get your food. For the most part the food had a mild flavour (things labelled as spicy had no heat whatsoever). Service was decent, however could've been a lot better -- We waited with empty glasses for over 10 minutes before the waitress returned to ask if we'd like another drink. I'd go back based on the cost of the buffet and knowing there's a few items I'd enjoy -- However serious fans of Italian food would be very disappointed.

not one of the cleanest restaurant, but one of the dirties. the salad bar was horrible, once i got to my table and took a first bite there was a DEAD FLY in my salad. once i saw the fly i called the waiter n asked for their manager but it seems like the waiter knew that there was a bug in my food because he asked "why is there is bug in your food" even though i got a free meal it wasn't really worth it. the food wasn't that fresh especially the spaghetti and the lasagna with was dry flavorless and didn't have enough cheese. i had frozen lasagna that taste better, which is pretty sad... also the cook just pick spaghetti off the bar table with his hands and threw it somewhere on the stove. the pots that they were using really need a hard scrub, seeing the pots made me loose my appetite. the ice cream was like milk shakes, one thing that surprised me was that they had ice cream cake, not the best but this time they actually had it and they were pretty quick refilling the dessert bar.

Absolutely HORRID!!!
This restaurant is awful!!!! The food is over cooked and dried out, or way to greasy. The service stinks. The restaurant is very dark and what you can see in the dim lighting is very dirty! The bathrooms are DISGUSTING!!!!! Someone came in to refill the paper towel but didn't check the stalls or clean up the mess that was in the bathroom. This place is horrid...it's gone down hill since I was there a few years ago and I will never go back!

I loved it!
Most of my family lives in the Toronto area and I'm stuck out in BC. I visit them once a year, and my first request is Frankie Tomatto's! It's a novelty here, and if I lived in Markham, I'd be a regular. The wait time and lineups can be a little exhausting, but the food is above average. I'm used to paying more for a single-course meal of equal or less quality. It's been nearly a year since my last visit but less than three weeks until my next... and I'm looking forward to the salmon, bruschetta, calamari, and pastas, among other things.

This place sucks. Honestly, everything except for the bruschetta was horrible. DO NOT TRY THE BRONTOSAURUS RIBS, they are extremely disgusting. The chicken parmesean was absolutely delicious with its blood flowing out the sides. And to top it all off, I was thrilled to have a whipped cream tart with no custard in it for dessert. I feel bad for the newly married couple who had their reception there that night because they were seated beside the garlic bread. Bon Appetit!

Been to Frankie's 3 or 4 times with family, it's a good place with a lot of variety, I LOVE the fried battered calamari (the reason I go mostly) - seafood fridays are great too if you like seafood, lots of fish(though I don't remember shrimp until steak thursday) The pizzas are great too, not so much the salads but it's like that everywhere. My mother said the soup was bland, and veggies crunchy inside. Salad and pickles are plentiful there and you'll definitely find more than a couple of things that you'd enjoy! Desserts aren't too good, I think they need some improvement there. All they offer are little cakes, brownies and so forth. They do have fruits and ice cream of course but I'd like to see creme caramel and more "creative" desserts. I had another comment about the flies flying around in there. Also some lighting would be good, I find it a bit "dark" in certain parts of the restaurant. The decor is nice and suitable for a italian restaurant, and the bathrooms and restaurant are pretty clean. Buffet! (battered Calamari, pasta, pizza, salads, pickles, beets, shrimp, salmon, oysters, fish, ratatouille, desserts)

One word. HORRIBLE. This place really has gone downhill. I used to eat at FT's frequently a few years ago. It used to be great food and decent service. I went last night for dinner with my family and it was really bad. After we were seated and went to the buffet we cam back to our table and the waiter asked us if we could move so another party could have our table and make one large row. That was fine with us, but the waiter didn't move any of our drinks which were already on the table. I grabbed two drinks and asked him to move the other 2, and he looked at me like I was crazy. He then sat us at another table which was literally attached to another birthday party's table. We had to move the table ourselves so that we could get some privacy. THE FOOD was even worse, there were flies all over the seafood and the salad bar. I will definitely not be going back to Frankie Tomattos. I'd advise you not to as well!!

First of all the place was really tacky and dark. The salads were limp and most of the hot dishes were dry and greasy. The tomato sauce tasted like it came straight from a can and the pizza had no flavor. The ice cream was O.K. The service was nothing special.

Foods and services were ok in general. However, the wet dishes with sticky food leftover and slippery detergent really turned me off. I don't know if the dish washer was broken but I don't feel comfortable to go back again.

The food was absolutely incredible! The variety allowed us to visit the restaurant again and again without having been able to remember any of the dishes! The cooks were quick to refill the tables, and the service was understandably busy-headed but very friendly. The bustling crowds of the restaurant is understable - it's a sign of good business! But it was hard trying to maneuvre around all the other customers. When we tell people of our trip to Toronto, we mention sights we've seen and visited, like the Toronto Zoo, the ROM, the OSC, Wonderland, and ... FRANKIE TOMATTO'S lol! I particularly suggest the cheese cappeletti!

This was the best restaurant experience of my life! The food was excellent, the ambiance, amazing. The restaurant is set up as an italian street, with multiple vendors along the road. There is around 15 + stations of various food types such as roatisserie, pizza, salads, etc... So many choices!!! The service is great as well Definately reserve for this one, even though there are 10+ dining halls, it still gets very crowded! I definately recommend this restaurant

I know its tacky and somewhat overdone. But I love this place. You definitely will not starve here. My favorites are the Penne/w sausage, the fatty ribs, and the calimari. The place is busy but well stocked by mass produced food. If you like a place with loads of character and alot of food, and not to into the fancy over pretentious gourmet Italian food spots. This might be the place for you.
