We have been led to believe that they are diseases, and that when we have them, we are disordered, that we need treatment. The problem is that no one promises that treatment will heal the 'disease' because we really do not know if, how or where the disease exists. No researcher has eer examined a young, normal person and discovered an abnormality that, though not yet active, WILL lead to an addiction or mental disorder. We get maturity only when it is nurtured through the combination of responsibility, guidance and encouragement.
