I just recently had a dinner with my friend at the Big Daddy's and I must say they surprised me. The decor did not give me much expectations but everything ordered was excellent. Especially the oysters which came with atleast 6 different sauces (but the oyster alone were excellent). Seafood fondue was not what I thought it would be... not really a fondue..but good nevertheless. Service was good, nothing to complain about. I would definitely visit again.

good range of oysters, AMAZING ceasers!, ok service... the good old standby to get your seafood, cajun fix at a decent price. try to avoid during "theatre" hours as it's right near the "district"

Not a pretty restaurant, but really nice wait...
Not a pretty restaurant, but really nice wait staff, and good food. I really am not a seafood eater (there are a few non seafood selections), but I wanted deep fried shrimp ( the only seafood I eat). It was not really even on the menu, but they accomodated me. The shrimp were really good, I was impressed with the extra effort to accomodate. My husband loves seafood, and said it was some of the best he ever had. Liked this restaurant very much.

We ate here on a Friday night for Summerlicious. I suggest you make a reservation on a Friday/Saturday night as they get fully booked; a couple in front of us wanted a table but were turned to the bar or patio because the restaurant was fully booked. The food was good; I ordered the shrimp cocktail, and to my surprise only received 3 pieces of shrimp. My friend ordered the grilled calamari and it was DELICIOUS. The main entree was ok, I wouldn't say it was anything special. The dessert...mmm very sweet and yummy. In regards to the service, we barely saw our waiter. He didn't even offer to ask if we wanted more wine, or how our meals were. Overall, this place was ok, not something that I would call memorable.

What Happened???
Ive been eating at Big Daddys for many years now and was shocked to see whats happened to there menu on my most recent visit. There oyster selection was still great and profesionaly shucked, but when it came time to order my steak i was upset to find there was no longer a new york on the menu. I was forced to order a sirloin which was cooked perfectly but just seemed like a cheap peice of meat. My wife was going to order the red fish (she loves it) but it also is no longer on the menu!! however, she decided to have the arctic char off the jazz menu and wound up loving it! Ohh ya, what happened to blackening food??? Do they even do that anymore? Its not an option on the menu!! And no more dirty rice! Now you get garlic roasted potatoes. I feel like big daddys went from authentic to ordinary. The kind of food you can get at any chain in town. But on a positive note, the service was as great as usual and the food available was cooked with perfection. Maybe next time they could just try a little harder to be authentic.

This is one restaurant that I will never go to again. The service was terrible and the food was really bland. The steak had no flavor to it, could have cooked a better one at home and the mashed potatoes were cold and lumpy, even an average restaurant could have whipped up a better meal. The server wasn't attentive at all maybe cause we didn't order appetizers, she was rude and forgetful. I had a glass of white wine which was not chilled and seemed watered down. Even the decor was a let down, it's basically a basement restaurant. Don't waste your money on this mediocre dive! What a Huge Disappointment!

First of all, if you are planning to attend on either a Friday or Saturday night, MAKE RESERVATIONS! The restaurant usually gets filled up from 5PM - 8PM. They also have a bar, but I have never eaten there before. This is an AMAZING restaurant. If you go, you must try the FONDUE especially if you love cheese. It's enough to share between two people for an appetizer, and trust me, you will want it all for yourself. It is served hot with small pieces of toast. The quality of the seafood here is exceptional. The fettucini I ordered had fresh crab meat which is a rare find in pasta!!!! The drinks are great and there is an extensive wine list. A MUST VISIT FOR ANY TORONTONIAN! BEST FONDUE IN TOWN!

I love sitting at the bar and having the food you can see them suck them right there and the wait staff and bartender are always so nice. I wish we had this restaurant in Sault Ste. Marie. The hostess was nice, server was good, We ordered a half dozen raw oysters and when I got the bill I was taken back by the price. They were very expensive. The oysters were great, fresh as can be. I also had baked oysters, they were good as well. We had a main course of 2 lobster tails. I found them a little over cooked, dried out. Over all it was a good time. I would go back.

My husband and I go to 'Big Daddy's' every year for our birthdays - we love it. The service is always excellent, the atmosphere is fun. We always start with the oysters - excellent!! We typically have steak or lobsters - both are always amazing. They also make the best scallops I have ever eaten - they are huge and just melt in your mouth!! This truly is one of our favourite restaurants - we highly recommend it!!

I love this place - the atmosphere is second to none, the service is always great. I had the stuffed pork chop with jambalaya rice, and split the blue crab appetizer with my friends. Add in Waterloo Dark on tap and this is a regular stop for me. Friends both had blackened catfish and both were quite happy. Can't wait for the summer patio, one of my favourites in T.O.

No price listed for oysters on the half shell...
No price listed for oysters on the half shell, shocked when the bill came and they were $35/ dozen, wow I should have asked first. Our entre's came well before our appetizers in fact we were almost finished when they arrived, even though we ordered them 10-15 min. before we ordered the main course. Nice patio, inside a little dark however. Overall alittle dissapointed for the price we paid. Probably try somewhere else next time.Did not feel we got value for our money.
