Shanloon

We routinely order take-out from Shanloon to avoid the horrible service in-house. The food was really good, however, our order was incorrect. We received a chicken dish instead of beef. When calling to advise them of the mistake, the service was horrible. We needed to speak to multiple people and ask for a replacement since all they would initially offer was a "sorry". They wanted us to go pick up the exchange and we needed to insist delivery (like the original order was). To add insult to injury we received a call back from someone requesting that we leave the incorrect item open so they could "make sure there was no beef in it" in an accusatory tone. We aren't liars, we just want the beef with greens we clearly see listed on our reciept!

I will now only order take out here. I will not subject myself to the surroundings, cold food and poor service any longer.

I've been there three times and I guess I thought the first time was bad and it just happens. I went back to give them a second chance as they are the "Winner of the Reader's Choice Award"?!!? Ok.. the 3rd time was stupid on my part for trying again and it was nothing but dissatisfaction and total frustration! - The food was so greasy, almost half of the buffet was empty and the rest was luke warm and tasteless. - The waitress slammed our drink on the table like she was angry at us for some reason! Other dinners looked like to feel the same way as their service was affected with her PMS like attitude! - When it was time for us to pay, the waitress told me she needed to go on her smokebreak and would come back after! I asked the other waitress if I could pay them and I was told that I could not!!! - So I had to wait until my angry waitress came back from her 10-15 mins smoke break so I could pay my bill!!! - I called the manager the next day and got absolutely nowhere! I WILL NEVER RETURN TO THIS PLACE... WHO ARE THESE READERS AND HOW CAN THEY CHOSE A PLACE LIKE THIS YEAR AFTER YEAR???

I have given this place lots of chances. One time out of soda, another never keeping the hot tables full, tables which have no variety anyway. But overall the worst issue is the service which just makes me feel like I bothered them to even come in the door. I took my little one there, and walked out the door after a while just because it seemed we were getting in the way of their day. This resteraunt could only survive in Pembroke

A Chinese buffet is much the same as any other Chinese buffet - but the Shanloon's food was absolutely delicious. All the food was hot and fresh and the staff kept the steam tables filled at all times. There was a nice selection of meat and vegetables and also seafood. Nice to see that there were also some 'not-so-Chinese' dishes for those picky eaters (ie children). The waitress was courteous and attentive and very friendly. Overall, a pleasant dining experience.

When I visit a restaurant, I expect to be greeted with a smile, or a hello, but when you get neither, it's pretty insulting. When our food was brought to us, it was litterally thrown on the table...we should've left, but we were too hungry. The food is mediocre.
