My dog Carlos is a 2 ½ year old Bullmastiff. Carlos lived in a puppy mill for the first year and a half of his life and was similar to a twelve week old 100 pound puppy when I adopted him. I contacted Andy to see if he could help me to train Carlos starting right at the basics, specifically around recall. I can honestly say that I am thrilled with the results. We initially met with Andy so he could observe Carlos and basically just get to know what Carlos is all about and to see my responses to Carlos’s behaviours. We started our lessons and it was so gratifying to see the changes in Carlos on a weekly basis. What really impressed me was that it was ME that was essentially being trained. With Andy’s knowledge and patience, I’m starting to develop the tools to continue to progress with Carlos. In addition, Carlos is totally comfortable with Andy and enjoys the attention Andy gives to him. As a dog owner, that’s reassuring to me. Aside from the training, the kennels are immaculate and would fit any dog’s needs. I would not hesitate to have Carlos board at Big Heart Kennels. Andy just seems to have a connection to dogs and I feel confident knowing that my dog trusts him and is eager to see him each week. I definitely recommend Big Heart Kennels, the name says it all! Our dog Zoe is a 14 year-old Chow mix, who, despite a couple of health issues, is a vibrant member of our family. We have never kenneled her before, but this summer we chose Big Heart Kennels. Here's why: 1) Safety first. It is obvious that safety is paramount to Andy and Janet. The enclosures (both inside and outside) are completely secure. Also, the building is air conditioned and the dog runs are covered (which provide shade) to ensure the dogs don't overheat. 2) Hygiene. The kennel is immaculate. From the floors to the orthopedic beds to the bowls, etc, everything is absolutely clean. 3) Routine. Andy and I discussed all of Zoe's likes, dislikes, routines, etc. so that she wouldn't be disrupted. We filled out a questionnaire so all the necessary information was on file. Zoe quickly became accustomed to the routine...so much so, that when she had her last bathroom break at the kennel, she was going back inside instead of to our car! I would absolutely recommend this kennel to anyone who is thinking of boarding their dog(s). The drive to the beautiful property is lovely and Andy and Janet are the most professional and nicest people you could meet! We can't wait to bring Zoe on vacation again! :)
