Carpenter Herb Ltd

My 79 year old mother called this company to get her new water pump to prime and function properly. Herb Carpenter sent out 2 technicians to do the job. They were there for less than 2 hours and billed her $395.50 to prime a NEW pump which costs aprx $200!! My mom paid him cash in full upon completion of the job. They did not use any parts and the pump does work (as would be expected). I was outraged and called the owner Dave Carpenter who said he had already given her a "seniors" discount", but would refund all the money and she could pay him what she felt was fair. 2 months later I called as my mom had not received anything. Dave finally sent out a cheque for $100 which has yet to clear my mom's bank account. I called Dave and asked why he did not honour his statement? He said he changed his mind and this was all he was prepared to do and it was up to me to do what I felt was necessary. Unethical business is an understatement. Seniors Beware!!

Be Ware of this business - I would not recommend this business. They are unethical! Be Ware. We hired them to install a shut off valve at our cottage. They quoted us $75/hour and said the job would take 10 minutes (plus 15 minutes to drain the system. They were there for 1 hour and 10 minutes and said we could expect a bill for 1.5 hours. They sent us a bill for 3 hours of labour. When we called to complain, the owner David Carpenter said he would sue us and send the bill to collections. This is an unethical business. Be Ware!
