A pedorthist is trained in the design, manufacture, and fit of orthotics or footwear. Pedorthic practitioners are certified by the College of Pedorthics of Canada. Your doctor may recommend you to a pedorthist if you are experiencing foot pain, have a condition which may affect your feet or legs, or have noticed an abnormal wear pattern to your shoes. To have the services covered by your insurance, you will need a prescription from your doctor. Most health benefit plans will cover pedorthic care, but it is always best to check with your insurance company.
