Well, we just got back from our first trip to Mikado in this new year. It was marvelous as always.
Mikado is a very special restaurant. We continually to experience wonderful food, and we are truly gracious to be able to visit with both Tanya and Joseph each time we are there. I have never experienced a restaurant like Mikado. It feels like my 2nd home.
As for the food, outstanding. The sushi is always impeccable. Our favorites include the Go Train roll (I often day dream about this roll), black dragon roll, and chef's special roll. The tempura is superb, the best I have ever had. There are so many delicious choices, you really cannot go wrong.
Treat yourself and visit Mikado, you will not be disappointed.

Mikado is the best japenese and sushi restaurant in Southern Ontario!!!! I have lived all over Canada and the food and sevice is the best! I proably eat there at least once a week or more. Tanya and Joseph have made me feel like family. Not only does Tanya make sure that I don't always order the same dish but gets me to try different and new food. My favorite thing to eat is # 88 Sushi& Sashimi Dinner and the Chef's Roll is die for. It's nice to find a place in Burlington that serves great food but also gets to know each and every customer. I even brought my Mom I'm with me, she doesn't each sushi, and she loved Tanya and the food as much as I did. If I could recommend one place to eat in Burlington this is it.

I've eaten sushi in hundreds of restaurants in various countries and have to say that I have a new favorite. Upon arriving you are warmly greeted by owners Tanya & Joseph. The food is served quite fast, with excellent presentation, and highest quality of ingredients. The fish is super fresh and the pieces are a very decent size. The fish melts in your mouth it's so fresh. Tanya checks on you throughout your meal to ensure you are very happy with your meal and are not needing anything.
We will continue to go for the fantastic sushi and personal service!!!! SUPERB !!!!

We took our lovely niece to Mikado to celebrate her 16th birthday, and what a celebration it was! The service was outstanding, our niece was treated like a celebrity and was beaming thorughout the meal. The highlight would have to be the Sushi Pizza, served on a heart shaped plate with Happy Birthday drizzled in hot sauce. The Chef's Roll was visually delightful and delicious. This is a great dish to order as it showcases the chef's myriad talents. All around a perfect night out!

Here you'll find delicious sushi and tempura. If you can't get full off of this food, you can't get full.
However, the general price for a meal (dinner) is overpriced. In the last years, the price increased gradually, and it kind of makes me upset, as the food is the same.
The ambiance is not elegant or romantic. It's comfortable and cozy. However, the main reason I won't go there is that is too expensive for me. Takasugimasu

This is the 2nd time we visited Mikado in as many months. It was great! I have experience working (and eating) in a high end, authentic Japanese restaurant, and Mikado does not disappoint! The sushi is very good, particularly their unagi (eel). We will be visiting this place again and again. Tanya and Joseph are lovely owners, who pride themselves on ensuring that they customers have memorable experiences each time they eat there. It truly is a special place to enjoy a wonderful meal.

We Used to Be So Close
Ah, Mikado. When I first found you, I thought I had died and gone to sushi heaven. At least once I week I would waltz through your doors and be greeted by your fervent staff. But alas, times change, and apparently, so do your standards.
Don’t misunderstand me, Mikado is good, but I would be lying if I said I would go again anytime soon. Allow me to explain.
Tempura Udon is by far one of my favourite things to eat; nothing cheers me up on a bad day like lightly battered vegetables and a warm Udon soup. So when I would come home from work I would more often than not find my car parked outside Mikado before I got to my apartment. Their Udon was delectable, no! It was magical. The vegetables were so fresh, and the broth was always perfect. I would often accompany this with some sort of maki, just because I can't say no to sushi or sashimi. After weeks, nay, months of this tradition, I was horrified to find that the vegetables I had come to rely on were now smaller, less fresh (which is being generous), and completely different. Gone were my squash and carrot, replaced with (gulp) a red pepper?! My beloved broccoli had been usurped by an imposter, some small, scary brown thing that I would like to learn the name of so I would know to avoid it in future. And my soup? My loving, soothing soup? Gone! Abandoned for salt water and past-its-prime leek. I was heartbroken. I had become comfortable in the fact that there was actually a decent sushi place in Burlington, and now this catastrophic blow.
I went two or three more times after that, just to see if perhaps it was a fluke, an off night, someone had gotten drunk and decided to "play chef". But no; the little sushi restaurant that could was no more. Now, it's just awkward. When I walk by your restaurant, I can't even look at you, and when someone mentions your name, a part of me wants them to tell me that you're the best place they've ever been. Maybe someday I'll waltz through your door again, like old times, before we got all tangled up in this, the Tempura Udon Affair. But I am so shell shocked, I doubt I will be dancing into your little place anytime soon.
Good-bye, old friend. You will be missed.

YUMM!
Food was excielent and ever time I went there the food was very quick to serve out.
Great parking avalability, just across the resturant there is a parking lot able to fit around 50 cars.
I was dissapointed with the service. The waitress was to slow at coming to our table. We would ask for the bill it would take 10-15 minutes for him/her to give us the bill.
Otherwise the food is AMAZING!!!!

Nice quiet little Japanese restaurant (at least quiet during our visit). We initially were seated at a table for 4, but were moved after 10 min because a family of 5 came in. I don't understand why we had to be moved since there were other tables available.
We were moved to a table by the window, which I actually preferred since it was a better view. The waitress made up for moving us though, giving us a complementary basket of shrimp and vegetable tempura.
Service was fast and our server was very nice. It didn't matter that we had been moved.
Food was great too. They have a good variety of rolls for under $10, which is nice to see.
We had a great experience and will most likely be back again.
