Opened in 2006, the Fundy Tidal Interpretive Centre has served tourists and locals alike. We are located along the Shubenacadie (shub-en-ack-a-dee) river and offer one of the best places to view the Tidal Bore in Nova Scotia. Step inside and learn about the history of the Maitland/South Maitland area (as ship building and railway communities) and the tidal bore phenomenon. Meet our friendly, knowledgeable staff and enjoy the view from our observation deck overlooking the powerful Shubenacadie River and/or our walking trail. Our 2 km (round trip) trail is a great way to get some exercise and enjoy nature at its finest, including interpretive panels from Ducks Unlimited Canada, it offers a great look at marsh ecosystems and wildlife (see more here). We are also the only Visitor Information Centre in East Hants, so make sure to stop in - we can provide you with any information you need, locally or provincially.
