Bonsai is a Japanese expression (Bon – tray, sai – tree) now used worldwide. It is the name given to an art form, originally Chinese, which is based on a study of trees growing in the wild. Bonsai re-creates nature in an idealized miniature landscape.It is believed that the art of bonsai evolved from an event that took place over 2000 years ago, in the Han Dynasty, (206 B.C. – 220 A.D.).
